Description | Our annual Memorial Day club ride dubbed the Wynona Ramble will take place on Monday leaving Johnstone Park at 7 AM. For the benefit of new members or those who have not participated before, here are some details about the ride. Ride length: About 70 miles (but see shorter alternative below) Departs: Johnstone Park May 28 at 7 AM Description: This is a fairly hilly ride (about 3,000 feet of climbing) passing through the towns of Barnsdall, Wynona, Pawhuska, and Okesa, mostly on very scenic rural roads with some riding along not-too-busy highways (usually with a shoulder). We traditionally climb Pawhuska's hardest hill and then cross the famous swinging bridge on our way to lunch. We generally ride together (in two groups; see below) at a moderate pace (it's called a ramble!). Rest stops are as follows (this is an unsupported ride, so bring cash or a card for purchases): Barnsdall convenience store at about mile 20 Wynona convenience store at about mile 32 Pawhuska at about mile 42 (we usually stop for lunch, often at the IGA grocery store deli on east Main street (Highway 60 on east side of downtown). Okesa "store" may or may not be open, so plan on riding 25+ miles home from Pawhuska without services. Shorter Alternative at a slower pace: Depart from the fire station in Okesa at 7 AM for a route of about 48 miles. Do not block the fire trucks when parking! Maps and cue sheets for each route are attached.
